SOAR, Service Opportunities After Retirement, is part of a federally sponsored national program that offers Americans age 55 and older the opportunity to address local needs through volunteer service in a variety of settings. These include: Learning Partners with elementary school children, ESL Tutors with New Americans, GED Tutors with young adults, Friendly Visitors with isolated elders, Hospital Patient Representatives, and Advocates for victims of domestic abuse.
